The highly anticipated launch of the SKN Moves Nevis Chapter’s Cooking and Quiz Competition, slated for this weekend on Nevis, might be postponed due to the impending arrival of Tropical Storm Tammy. Chapter Coordinator, Shelagh James, told Urban Kreationz News (UKN) that the committee will closely monitor the development of Tammy before making an official statement on the matter. More information will be provided when it becomes available.

Local, regional and international news agencies have been tracking the development of Tropical Storm Tammy and on Thursday, October 19, 2023, Emily Olson of NPR reported that “Tammy is forecast to rake across many of the smaller island countries in the eastern Caribbean, with the center of the storm passing over the Leeward Islands on Friday and Saturday. Rainfall of up to 10 inches could produce flash flooding and mudslides.”

Also on Thursday, the National Hurricane Center (America) stated that Tammy was moving east toward the Leeward Islands with sustained winds of up to 60 mph. The National Emergency Management Agency on Saint Kitts informed that, as of 5 AM on Thursday, Saint Kitts and Nevis was placed under a tropical storm watch, signaling that the country could experience possible tropical storm conditions within 48 hours.
